The New York Yankees gear up for their trip to Blacksburg.
The team will visit English Field next Tuesday for an exhibition game against Virginia Tech.
While preparations have been underway to add new seating to the stadium, Tech announced Wednesday that Lane Stadium will also be open to those Virginia Tech fans who hold a valid VT ID and want to watch it on the big screen.
While fans in Virginia gear up, buying Yankee hats in Tech colors, the Yankees are also excited about the visit.
“I’m really excited about the trip. I know our players are excited about the trip. We look forward to a nice day and just having a wonderful game and going through the experience,” Manager Joe Girardi said.
“If we can at least raise some awareness, make people smile and enjoy themselves for a few hours that’s all we can really do,” Derek Jeter said.
First pitch is scheduled for 3:10 Tuesday afternoon.
