WILLIAMSBURG—Mhairi McKay tied personal and course record with an 8-under par 63 today to take the clubhouse lead at the midpoint of the opening day of $2.2 million Michelob Ultra Open.

McKay, who finished her sterling day on the Kingsmill Resort’s River Course with a birdie at No. 18, leads Annika Sorenstam by one shot (Sorenstam is playing No. 18) and Diana D’Alessio and Lorena Ochoa (also playing 18) by two.

D’Alessio, an eight-year-LPGA veteran from New Jersey, fired a 6-under-par 65 this morning. Her round included an eagle from the fairway at No. 16, a 405-yard par-4. She holed a 7-iron from 134 yards.
