Red Sox rally again behind Chavis's bat

Salem wins 6th straight game

SALEM, Va. - The Salem Red Sox got a monster performance from Michael Chavis in a 7-6 win over Wilmington. Chavis hit three home runs, including the game-winning two-run shot in the bottom of the ninth for the win. Chavis finished 3-4 with the three home runs, five RBi's and three runs scored.

The Sox stretched their win streak to six straight with the dramatic 7-6 victory on Wednesday night. Manager Joe Oliver is hoping his team can build on their winning ways.

"Well anytime you can get on any kind of winning streak, you're hoping that momentum's gonna carry, and hopefully we can ride the wave for a little while.  But the guys have been doing some good things and just picking each other up, so this is what you like to see really early in the season," says Oliver.

The first place Red Sox move to 9-5 on the young season with the victory. They are currently leading the Northern Division of the Carolina League. Thursday they open a four-game series at Frederick, where they will take on the Keys.
