Dawn Jefferies

Dawn Jefferies is an award winning reporter and anchor. She serves as anchor of WSLS 10 On Your Side Today from 5 to 7 each morning.

Dawn joined WSLS in 2000. She helped the station earn a 2007 Peabody Award for it's breaking coverage of the tragic shootings at Virginia Tech. Dawn delivered live reports from the campus throughout more than 12 hours of live, continuous coverage on April 16th and in the days following.

Dawn received an Emmy nomination for her reporting and has been recognized by the Associated Press and Virginia Association of Broadcasters with several awards for best and outstanding reporting. She's covered numerous breaking stories including the death of Jerry Falwell for NBC News, the sniper shootings in outside Washington D.C., the anniversary of the September 11th attacks in New York, and the U.S.S Cole Bombing.

Dawn has a strong belief in helping others and doing for the community. Issues relevant to women and children are most important to her. Dawn helps to promote breast cancer awareness in the Roanoke Valley, often speaking about her mother's battle and victory over the often deadly disease. Her reporting helped the station earn an award for community service through journalism in 2003.

Prior to coming to Roanoke, Dawn worked at the CBS affiliate in Greenville, MS. Dawn is a native of Baltimore and studied Journalism at the University of Maryland. While in college, she interned at the CBS affiliate Washington, D.C. and at "America's Most Wanted: Final Justice."

Dawn enjoys traveling and cooking and most importantly, spending time with her husband and family.
