Cooler and Drier Air Moving into the East

GREENVILLE, N.C. - Good Afternoon! I'm WNCT 9 First Alert Meteorologist Dontae Jones with your forecast for eastern North Carolina.

THIS AFTERNOON: Cooler and drier Canadian air continues to spill southward causing our temperatures to feel more comfortable with lower humidity.  This afternoon we'll have highs in the lower to middle 80s with northerly breezes around 10 mph.  Although a stray shower can't be ruled out, especially along the coast, rain chances will be minimal.  Enjoy this break to the summertime heat and humidity!

TONIGHT:  The cooler Canadian air, along with clear skies, will make for beautiful sleeping weather overnight tonight. We'll look for overnight lows in the lower 60s inland and upper 60s to near 70 for the coast.

TROPICS: A tropical wave in the eastern Atlantic Ocean has a medium to high chance for development over the next few days. It has a 70 percent chance of development within the next 48 hours. We are keeping a close eye on this system as the dry air begins to moisten and the environment becomes a little more favorable for this to become our next tropical system to track.

A LOOK AHEAD:  Dry air will keep rain chances minimal for the majority of the work week.  However, another batch of showers and storms my affect your upcoming weekend plans.  For more weather details, check out your WNCT 9 First Alert Weather's Extended Forecast by CLICKING HERE.
