GREENVILLE, N.C. -

Good Thursday Evening! I'm WNCT 9 First Alert Chief Meteorologist Jerry Jackson with your forecast for eastern North Carolina.

TONIGHT: We continue to reside on the "hot" side of a meandering front. As a result, temperatures will remain hot and muggy through tonight. A few thunderstorms may develop late tonight, but many areas will remain dry.

FRIDAY: One last day of heat/humidity is expected, with ample sunshine. A slightly better chance of showers/storms exists for Friday.

A LOOK AHEAD:  A cold front will finally push through the area this weekend, allowing a much cooler air mass to return to North Carolina. Cooler weather will linger into next week.

TROPICS: An area of thunderstorms continues to slowly organize near the Windward and Leeward Islands. This system is about 1 week away from the United States. Computer models are currently having a difficult time with forecast path. Most models keep the system well offshore of the United States, but much uncertainty remains. Stay with WNCT 9 First Alert Weather for more tropical information by clicking HERE.
