Roanoke County school bus runs off road

Roanoke County Police just sent out an update.

Officers confirm that the accident was due to a medical condition that the bus driver, Albert Sowder, had.

Police tell us the crash happened in the 4000 block of Buck Mountain Road, around 7:25 a.m.

Investigators say there were 15 students on the bus, and none were hurt. All were taken to school.

EMS crews took Sowder to Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

8:51 a.m.

A school bus runs off the road on the way to Clearbrook Elementary School this morning.

It happened on Buck Mountain Road.

About six children were on Bus #206, they are OK. Roanoke County Police tell 10 On Your Side the children have since been taken to school.

Roanoke County Transportation Officials say the bus driver apparently passed out. The driver was taken the hospital.
