Wednesday afternoon, a Fedex package was delivered to a home at 2020 Wayne St. in Roanoke.
State police tell us inside the box was 25 pounds of marijuana and inside the home were husband and wife Dave and Gail Fearon.
They were both arrested for drug charges and police say in the basement was an impressive assembly line for distributing marijuana.
Neighbor Pat Bennet says he is glad to see them gone. “A lot of people were coming in and out all times of the night.”
Earlier in the week, on Monday, WSLS reported a drug bust at Sterlingwood apartments. A search warrant shows state police were led there after intercepting another Fedex package at the Fedex facility on Thirlane Road, addressed to the apartment.
When it arrived, agents were waiting.
Melvin Davis on Jeriwon Taylor were arrested in that bust.
The search warrant also shows that since September of 2010, nine other packages were delivered to the apartment all with same address from Texas.
Police tell us they don't believe the two busts are connected, but those running them were working in similar ways.
Court documents show a common practice is to use delivery businesses like Fedex and UPS to ship illegal narcotics from states such as Texas, California and Arizona to the Roanoke area.
