The NFL draft declaration date for eligible juniors is Tuesday, January 15th. That means Hokies quarterback Logan Thomas will have to make up his mind by tomorrow and get a signed and notarized petition renouncing all his remaining college eligibility to the league if he wants to enter the NFL draft. An announcement of his decision is expected by 4pm Tuesday.

Thomas finished the 2012 season with just under 3000 yards passing and 18 touchdowns along with 16 picks. He also ran for 527 yards and 9 scores

Meanwhile, CBS Sports.com's Bruce Feldman is reporting that the Hokies have settled on former Auburn and Temple offensive coordinator Scot Loeffler to lead the Virginia Tech offense into the future. Loeffler is a former Michigan quarterback who spent 2012 at Auburn and 2011 as Temple's offensive coordinator.. Prior to that he coached quarterbacks at Florida, Michigan and Central Michigan, along with a one-year stint with the Detroit Lions.

Virginia Tech has not commented on either situation and has yet to announce any staff changes.

  • It's been less than 10 months since the world record for a lottery prize. On Saturday night, it could conceivably fall once again.
It's all about the odds, and one single ticket in Florida has beaten them all by matching the numbers drawn for the highest Powerball jackpot in history at an estimated $590.5 million, lottery officials disclosed Sunday.
