ROANOKE, VA -

    National signing day can vary from madness to a sleepy day at the office depending on the talent in the area you happen to live...but in 2013 at least, The "haul" in southwest Virginia was impressive.  Heading up this year's local class, David Prince of Patrick Henry to Virginia Tech. The star athlete is projected as a wide receiver there. At Hidden Valley Jake Kite will take his considerable secondary skills to Duke. Still in Roanoke, Northside's Demetreus Ferebee will play for Norfolk State, as will Amherst Co. star Marquis Brown. Cave Spring signs a pair, including Dylan Brucki to Liberty. Carroll Co's Lucas Holder will join him in Lynchburg. Also at the home of the Knights, Jordan Bryant will head to Concord University. Rockbridge Co. quarterback Porter Abell is headed to Richmond. George Wythe standout Hardy Lester will be his teammate. James King of Pulaski Co. is headed to VMI.

     In other sports--Christiansburg's Hannah Duff will play soccer at Radford. Blacksburg HS signed eight non-football athletes to college scholarships. In Boys Soccer, Geinda Smith to Colgate, Garland Smith to Radford, and Mitchell Williams to Southern Illinois. In girls soccer, Kim Shaver to UNC Greensboro and Morgan Evans to Temple. And in Cross Country-Track and field, Nick link will run at NC State. Matthew Paiser is headed to VMI as is Luke Phillips.
