Virginia Planned Parenthood activists call on supporters

You might get a phone call sometime Thursday from a Planned Parenthood activist. They're calling on supporters during a statewide Day of Action.

This afternoon a group at Virginia Tech called people asking them to call state lawmakers and voice their support for extending Medicaid.

Planned Parenthood Health Systems, Inc. Virginia Field Coordinator Olivia Babis says extending Medicaid would provide health care coverage for an additional 400,000 people in Virginia who don't qualify currently.

"I just feel like everyone should have access so if this makes a difference and this helps that happen then that's the goal" said Jhila Medghalchi, who made some calls today.

The Healthcare for all Virginians organization reports Virginia is ranked 48th in per capita Medicaid spending.
