The superintendent of the Roanoke city school system says a plan to attract more math teachers to work in the district is already working.
Roanoke city schools superintendent, Dr. Rita Bishop, said the district has already hired six new math teachers.
Bishop put even more emphasis on a recruitment plan last year after saying the district was still short on math instructors, particularly at the middle and high school levels.
Part of the recruitment plan includes signing bonuses based on experience.
Bishop said she'll continue recruiting math teachers through March.
After closing earlier this year, four local men decided to buy the Radford theater. They are investing thousands of dollars in renovations and expect to finish the project in mid-June.
