A Virginia State Police investigator dropped off a bag of sealed evidence at Richmond's Fairfax Identity Labs, the next step for police as detectives hope to solve the more than 20 year old Aggie Albert case.
Police found Albert's body in July 1992 in the alley beside her beloved Catholic church in Covington.
Investigators declined to say exactly what they've submitted for DNA testing, explaining only that it was "several" pieces of evidence.
The private lab will spend the next four to six weeks analyzing the evidence for DNA.
Fairfax Identity Labs has done everything from help identify victims of the World Trade Center collapse in the September 11th attacks to provide the DNA match that allowed police to solve the case of a serial killer targeting children in the Bahamas.
The lab specializes in recovery of "touch DNA," meaning it can pinpoint DNA so small that it may be invisible to the naked eye.
