Cancer patients and their families in the New River Valley will have an improved place to get care sooner than expected.
Hospital leaders at Lewis-Gale Montgomery say the project to build a specialty center with Blue Ridge Cancer Care is ahead of schedule.
The original target date was December of this year, but now it is expected to be completed in October.

"It's a very exciting partnership with Blue Ridge Cancer Care. It's going to be an outstanding facility, 12,000 square foot facility that will really be able to, be a great asset in this community and for the community at large," said Matt Mathias, COO at Lewis-Gale Montgomery Regional Hospital.
Blue Ridge Cancer Care will relocate its Market Street practice in Christiansburg to the new facility.
The clinic will be double the size of the current site.
