Floyd County crash kills Willis woman

The Virginia State Police are continuing their investigation into a single vehicle crash that occurred early Sunday morning around 12:30 am on Route 221 one half mile north of Route 722 in Floyd County.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2005 Ford Focus was traveling southbound when the driver ran off the left side of the roadway striking a guard rail and then an embankment before overturning.

State Police say the driver Lisa Marie Reid, 29, of Willis, Virginia was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and she was partially ejected from the vehicle. Reid was pronounced dead at the scene.
