Virginia Tech hosts Special Olympics basketball tourney

BLACKSBURG, VA -
It was a big day for special Olympians across the state.
 
Athletes ht the court in Blacksburg today at Cassell Coliseum with Virginia Tech head basketball Coach James Johnson for the Southwest Regional basketball tournament.
 
Teams battled it out on the court in the spirit of competition and fun.
 
"It makes me feel pretty good honestly, it really does and it is something that I've gotten to experience over the past 10-11 years that I've been in special Olympics and it's something that I really enjoy" said Nate Calhoun, a special Olympian.
 
Dozens of Virginia Tech athletes were on hand to help with the games and cheer the athletes on.
