Roanoke City Police arrest Henry County teen in weekend shooting

ROANOKE, VA -

The Roanoke City Police Department says its officers have made an arrest in a weekend shooting case.

According to police department spokeswoman Aisha Johnson, officers were called to the 2000 block of Indian Village Lane at 12:26 a.m. on Saturday, February 16th.  When they arrived, the officers found 34-year-old Christopher James Fitzgerald, of Roanoke, had been shot.

EMTs took Fitzgerald to Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The investigation determined the shooting took place during a fight, and found their suspect, a 17-year-old male from Ridgeway, on Penmar Avenue.

Police arrested the teenager, and charged his with malicious wounding, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
