Update 9:41 p.m.
City council has approved the proposal 4 to 3. A second reading is required, which will take place on March 4th.
As we have reported, the plan included two hotels and a restaurant at the old Huff Lane Elementary school site. The developer recently made changes to the plans by lowering the height of the buildings by more than 10 feet.
Back in December, the Roanoke City Planning Commission voted down the proposal. A vote and public hearing was scheduled in January and delayed to tonight.
