FRANKLIN COUNTY, VA -

 

9:29 p.m.

The sheriff's office just released an update on the investigation.

According to Lt. Todd Maxey, the vehicle involved was a silver 2011 Jeep.

Lt. Maxey says both of the victims have been identified, and the release of their names is being withheld until family are notified.

The investigation is ongoing, and Lt. Maxey does not believe the public is in danger related to this case.

Investigators said it may be Wednesday morning before they're ready to release the names of the two victims, one man, and one woman, both found inside a vehicle parked on the side of Ramsey Memorial Road.

Deputies confirmed they found a handgun inside the vehicle, and both victims died of gunshot wounds.

Investigators declined to say whether they think it was a double murder or a murder-suicide.

Deputies obtained a search warrant to further investigate the vehicle.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff's department, they are investigating two deaths. Both bodies were found in a car on Ramsey Memorial Road shortly after 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

Investigators are on scene at this time.
