A Montgomery County woman admitted to steal from a parent-teacher organization at a local elementary school on Tuesday.
According to Montgomery County Commonwealth's Attorney Mary Pettit, 34-year-old Dawn Owens pled guilty to two charges of petit larceny, and two charges of obtaining money by false pretenses.
Investigators say Owens took money from the Eastern Montgomery Elementary School PTO between 2009 and 2011, while she was the PTO's treasurer.
A judge sentenced Owens to six months in jail on each of the four charges, totaling two years. However, the judge suspended all but ten days, and included supervised probation as a condition of the reduced sentence.
Pettitt said Owens paid back $2,111.39 to the PTO, before pleading guilty on Tuesday.
