Salem woman feels like Cinderella after makeover

ROANOKE, VA -

A Roanoke salon gives a local woman an extreme makeover.

Sharon Wingate's new look was reveled Wednesday night in front of family and friends. The Salem woman was nominated by co-workers for the Punch Boutique makeover.

In her nomination letter, it says she was about to leave for her first vacation with her husband in years when he died from the contaminated steroid shot that left him with fungal meningitis.

"Hard working, committed to her family, committed to their future in a transformative time of her life, we would dearly love to see Sharon as the recipient of the exciting opportunity offered by your contest" said the nomination letter.

Wingate said the day of pampering felt like a fairytale and she felt like Cinderella.

"It means so much to have the support that it continues on after tragedy. Just to help me out, it was just wonderful that they did this" said Wingate.

La Cheveaux pampered her with a new hairstyle and makeup. Punch Boutique gave her the clothes.

The women's clothing store wanted to honor a deserving woman in the community who doesn't take a lot of time for themselves.
