Local vice cops take approximately 50 pounds of marijuana off the streets

Court records show Roanoke police vice officers, along with Virginia State Police, have taken approximately 50 pounds of marijuana off the streets over the past two weeks.

Police say the big busts involved an operation that included Jose Villafana, who is now charged with dealing marijuana.

Virginia State Police said in court documents they seized 36 bundles of packed marijuana during a "bust/buy" operation on Fallon Drive in Roanoke on February 8th.

Court records show that led to Villafana's arrest the following day.

Roanoke police wrote in court records that in a seizure on Nancy Drive they recovered 6.2 pounds of marijuana, as well as ten pounds from a SUV with Florida tags.

Police say most of the marijuana in the Roanoke Valley is being trafficked in from out-of-state.
