Technology is hitting Downtown Roanoke in a big way.
Many people are stopping by iPads at different places in Downtown Roanoke.
With a few clicks, Art Sellers says he could find out what restaurants or shops are downtown, how to get there, and even where to park. He says it's a great way to attract more people to the downtown area.
"If they know where they are going to go and see it here and they can plan their meet up," Roanoke resident Art Sellers says. "They can know more about the town and look for the restaurants, bars, and bakeries."
David Blevins says he's impressed too.
"It's great," Roanoke resident David Blevins says. "I'm really into technology and the better the technology the more we should use it and it's a great example of it being used."
The employees at Downtown Roanoke Inc. Are behind the tech boost in the area. The money for the iPads comes from the organization's Special Project's budget.
"We wanted to increase visitor awareness of the area and introduce people already here to new places," Matthew Klepeisz, DRI Communication Manager. "It shows how tech savvy we are."
The iPads are located at the walkway between Hotel Roanoke and the Market Building, the Taubman Museum of Art, and the Jefferson Center.
