Blacksburg pizza restaurant expands again

RADFORD, VA -

What once was a small pizza joint in Blacksburg is now becoming very large. Ryan smith is set to manage the new Benny Marzano's restaurant in Radford

"Late night, probably four or five nights a week we have people in here, sometimes a line out the door til two in the morning," said Smith.

The restaurant's rapid growth in just a few years since opening has its owners pointing to something very noticeable that separates them from competitors.

One of the reasons for the restaurants success, according to store owners, is the size of the pizza. If you see, it's bigger than the average person's entire head.

"You can go to Dominoes or another franchise place, but you're not going to get the size or the taste , like you would here at Benny's," said Eric Johnson, a Virginia Tech student.

Radford university students can't wait to get a taste of what everyone is talking about in Blacksburg and Roanoke.

"There's not enough restaurants around town other than fast food to fill the needs I think for everyone here. So I think when it comes in, it'll have a lot of business," said Ethan Price.

"Because of the location, we'll still get a lot of people, a lot of foot traffic and we're hoping to get a good lunch rush there too," said Smith.

It is now a pizza franchise where the owners dreams seem to be even bigger than his slices. The Radford store on Clement Street downtown is expected to open in a few weeks.
