       Jimmie Johnson became the sports first four-time winner of the All-Star race, surpassingthe late Dale Earnhardt and teammate Jeff Gordon.

     The state playoffs moved forward Thursday night with Brookville's girls defeating Northside 51-36. They will face Spotswood in the Region III Division 3 Finals. In other girls action..Region C Division 2, the Floyd Co. girls continue to roll...blasting James River by 30, 84-54, while they will take on PH Glade Spring...a 54-39 winner over Grayson Co.

     In Boys action, the Lord Botetourt Cavaliers and William Byrd Terriers out of the Blue Ridge district were both halted in the Region Semifinals. LB fell to EC Glass by a 72-52 count..while Byrd dropped a 66-51 decision to Heritage, setting up an all-Seminole District Region Final.

    In VIS Division II action, North Cross handled Hargrave 72-56 to set up a rematch with Carlisle for the title.
