A quarter of a million dollars is a lot of money to a lot of people. But someone is about to lose that, for not collecting on a winning lottery ticket sold in Danville.
According to the Virginia Lottery, someone bought a Mega Millions ticket at the Fas Mart, at 1411 South Boston Road in Danville, for the September 11, 2012 drawing. The ticket ended up hitting all five regular numbers, but not the mega ball, to win $250,000.
However, that person has not come forward to claim the ticket.
The 180 day period to collect after the drawing is almost up, ending on March 11th.
The winning numbers were 5-11-20-33-36, and the Mega Ball number was 11.
If the money goes unclaimed, it will go to the Virginia Literary Fund. The fund is used only for education purposes.
