Stronger broadband could make education better in region - WSLS 10 NBC in Roanoke/Lynchburg Va

School leaders say a stronger broadband connection will also help the educational process.
"Education has to go beyond just sitting in your class for 50 minutes at a time," Time Barnes, Director of Technology for Pulaski County and School District.
Tim Barnes says teaching needs to expand the classroom. He says students need access to the same tools other regions have with the increased fiber-optic Internet connection.
"In county's like Pulaski, where's there's not a lot of money, our best solution is to bring the world to our students and the way we do that is through broadband. We need a lot of broadband to do that,"
Barnes says.
He says broadband allows them to reach out to other school systems or even other countries through video-conferencing.
