The plea agreement means Jason Shell won't get out of the state penitentiary until he's somewhere in his mid 50s.
He's also facing a probation violation charge in Roanoke County, meaning he has ten years hanging over his head for that.
Shell is a convicted cocaine dealer with a violent record.
The victim in this case, Moneta store owner Bob Terry, said he was fine with the plea deal.
"The main thing is getting [Shell] off the streets so he won't bother anybody else," Terry said Tuesday morning from his store.
He did not attend the hearing.
