Guests at the Craddock-Terry Hotel in Lynchburg will notice something new in their rooms.

While they may look like just a piece of paper, the surface mats guests will find in their rooms and bathrooms, are helping protect against bacteria, viruses and fungi.

It is an idea, Dennis Hackemeyer and Mark Sisson came up with about 2 years ago, called NanoTouch.

"Using nano-technology, the surface attracts microbes and them kills them, 24 hours, 7 days a week," said Sisson, a partner in the company.

From hotels, to helping keep the remote control clean, Sisson explains other ways the surface is used.

"They are used on door handles, a mom could put it in their diaper bag to use in public places," said Sisson. "We're also seeing a great need for these as snack mats in schools."

Hackemeyer said they are already getting a huge response from schools, businesses and even the PGA national resort and spa in Florida.

"We've received a lot of emails, calls and Facebook buzz. It's great," said Hackemeyer.

They already have new ideas in the works, including restaurant menu covers and sleeves for your I-Pad or Kindle.
