George McAleer has had M.S. for almost thirty years and thanks to the F.R.E.E. Foundation , he is able to get around and live an active life.
McAlleer says, "Having this equipment has enabled me to navigate socially and more confidently. I can go places and it is easy. I don't have to be a bother to other people."
Sonja Schaibel, F.R.E.E. Executive Director says, "We also have an office in Northern Shenandoah, Virginia Beach, Lynchburg, Richmond and Roanoke."
F.R.E.E. just won Premier Cares Award and a one hundred thousand dollar prize that goes with it. The money will allow the group to match even more people with the medical mobility equipment they need. The group has a large selection of walkers, canes and wheelchairs to help people remain independent.
F.R.E.E. has partnered with Goodwill of the Valleys for the last five years. The medical equipment is donated to Goodwill and then given to F.R.E.E.
