Q99 kicks off Radiothon to benefit local children's hospitals

ROANOKE -

A local radio morning team is kicking off its 10th anniversary of making a difference for children for local hospitals.

Q99's Dick Daniels and David Page have been raising money through a two day radiothon for the last 10 years. "Dick and Dave's Care for Kids Radiothon" will be under way from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.

Dick and Dave spend a lot of time talking to families of children who are getting help through Carilion Children's hospital in Roanoke and Centra Lynchburg Hospital in Lynchburg which are part of the Children's Miracle Network. The duo is helping to raise money to provide services these families and their children need and might not otherwise get without driving to see a specialist hundreds of miles away. "It's all for the kids in the hospital and the families we talk to," Daniels said. "We talk to moms and dads who have premature babies who fit in the palm of your hand."

"These are stories that are going on up there in the hospital right now that are waiting to be told," Page said. You can tune into Q99FM at 99.1 to hear the stories.

Over the past 9 years more than one million dollars has been raised by radiothon sponsors and listeners. Donations can be made online.
