The Family Dental Clinic of the New River Valley will officially cut the floss on its new office this afternoon.
The clinic, located inside the Free Clinic of the NRV is now seeing children. Before now, the dental clinic only adults. Dentists will now see children who are either uninsured or on Medicaid. There is a $35 fee for uninsured patients.
Dentists say it opens the doors to children who might otherwise not get dental care they need. "We are working with a few Head Start programs," explained Roz Nelson. "With the Affordable Care Act, there's no provision for dental services so it gives us a chance to provide access to those who need it most in our area."
The floss cutting is from noon to 2:00 p.m. Monday. It's located at 215 Roanoke Street in Christiansburg.
