Salem woman speaks out after officer honored for saving her life

A Salem woman speaks out after a local police officer is honored for saving her life.

You may remember Detective Danny Crouse.

He's the Salem police officer who recently received the department's "Officer of the Year Award" after he stopped a woman from jumping from a bridge onto Interstate 81.

After that story aired on WSLS the woman he saved, Rhonda Bell, came forward wanting to share just how much the officer's efforts have changed her life.

Bell's now clean and sober and in an 18 month program at the Roanoke Rescue Mission.

"Honestly, I don't think God is done with me yet.  I think he has something bigger and better for me and I think he put it in Crouse to be the one to save me and to help me straighten up and get where I needed to be today," she said.

Soon, Bell wants to thank Detective Crouse face to face for giving her a second chance at life.
