Roanoke County Schools news release

Four elementary and three secondary schools in Roanoke County each have received grants from the ExxonMobil Educational Alliance to support Science and Math programs.  These grants are part of several available to schools across the country served by Exxon or Mobil stations.  The grants were made possible by funding from the ExxonMobil Corporation.

Schools receiving the grants are:

  • Burlington Elementary School ($1000 grant)
  • Clearbrook Elementary School ($500 grant)
  • Herman L. Horn Elementary School ($500 grant)
  • Hidden Valley Middle School ($500 grant)
  • Northside High School ($1000 grant)
  • Northside Middle School ($1000 grant)
  • Oak Grove Elementary School ($500 grant)

"These schools work hard to make learning interesting and fun," said Rob Hendren of Stop In Food Stores.  "As an Exxon retailer, I am proud to help young people in Roanoke County."

The ExxonMobil Educational Alliance program is designed to provide Exxon and Mobil retailers with an opportunity to invest in the future of their communities through educational grants to neighborhood schools.  ExxonMobil believes that, as members of the community, local retailers are best qualified to work with local educators to help identify schools and programs most in need of support.

Stop In Food Stores met stringent eligibility criteria before applying for and being awarded these grants, including having a commitment to provide a superior buying experience for customers.
