Roanoke restaurants expecting steep drop during snowstorm

DOWNTOWN ROANOKE, VA -

Wednesday's snowstorm will likely have a big impact on downtown businesses.

Restaurants like Firefly Fare in the City Market Building say business is only a fraction of what it normally would be when it snows.

That cuts into expected revenues, making snow days a headache for Firefly Owner Chris Parkhurst.

"We certainly are weather dependent and any weather where people can't drive or don't feel safe driving is going to have a marked impact," he said. "Especially if they close schools."

Parkhurst said much of his business comes from the lunch crowd which is sparse when schools are closed.
