The Spartan girls have reached the state finals for the first time ever have a 51-38 win over Loudoun County at the Siegel Center in Richmond.  Taylor poured in a team high 24 points in the win.  The Spartans have reached the semifinals for three straight seasons, but this is their first breakthrough to the finals. Senior post Tessa Foley had 15 rebounds in the winning cause.

Salem is 25-3 on the season and will take on Courtland in a 7pm Saturday night championship game---immediately followed by the Salem boys at 9pm.  The Salem boys will play Grafton because the Clippers edged EC Glass by a 51-48 count in overtime.  Glass is the Region III runnerup to Heritage. This was the school's 13th trip to the semifinals. The school has won five titles in its history.
