Fort Lewis Elementary School off budgetary chopping block - WSLS 10 NBC in Roanoke/Lynchburg Va

WSLS 10 has just learned that Roanoke County school superintendent, Dr. Lorraine Lange, will recommend to the Roanoke County School Board tonight that Fort Lewis Elementary School remain open through the 2013-14 school year.
Dr. Lange confirmed that she sent an email to staff at Fort Lewis this morning informing them of her recommendation.
Of course, the school board will have to agree, but it's not set to vote on the budget for a few more weeks.
Lange said she could balance the budget and still keep Fort Lewis open.
Lange said she has been forced to cut $14.3 million from the school district's budget over the past four years.
