Healthy Homemade Humus:
4 cups garbanzo beans cooked in can with juice
5 cloves of garlic
1 tablespoon Tahini (sesame paste)
¼ tablespoon onion powder
¼ tablespoon garlic powder
½ tablespoon cumin
½ Tablespoon turmeric (skip it if you can't find it!)
¼ tablespoon black pepper
½ -1 fresh lemon juice
Pinch cayenne pepper
Pinch salt
Procedure:
Strain beans and set juice aside. In food processor, place garlic and beans with splash of bean juice to help the food processor turn and to get "paste or dip-like" consistency. Add all of the remaining ingredients and continue to pulse the food processor until smooth or desired texture. Serve with warm pita bread or pita chips. Also is a great healthy flavorful addition to a salad, fish, or poultry dish!
