Deadly head-on Botetourt Co. accident

UPDATE: State police are still investigating a crash that happened Thursday night around 11:30 PM. Police say a preliminary investigation revealed that a 1993 Ford Explorer was driving in an east bound lane of Route 460 when the driver hit a 2009 GMC Sierra pick up. They say the driver of the Explorer, 30-year-old Stephen Andrew Morris from Buchanan, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

UPDATE: One man was killed and another was taken to the hospital after an accident in Botetourt County overnight. State police say just before midnight an SUV heading west in the eastbound lane on US-460 near Laymantown Road hit a pick-up truck head on. The driver of the SUV was killed while the driver of the pick-up is expected to be okay. State police say a Botetourt County Sheriff's Deputy tried to get the SUV driver to pull over before the crash.

According to state police an SUV traveling westbound in the eastbound lane on US-460 hit a pick-up truck head on just before midnight Friday in Botetourt County. State police say the pick-up truck driver appears to be okay but the driver of the SUV died. The eastbound lanes of US-460 are closed. One westbound lane is open.
