The Troutville Volunteer Fire Dept and the community of Botetourt are remembering firefighter John Huffman who died Thursday.

Huffman had a hard fought battle with his cancer, Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma.

"John spent 18 years of his life serving his community as a volunteer at Troutville Fire Department, his dedication to his family, his department, and his community, are unsurpassable. He will be missed but not forgotten" said chief Scott Paderick. "Huffman was a husband, a father of 2, and a brother to many."
