Local law enforcement remembers Trooper Junius Walker

Posted: Updated:

Several state police officers working in our area are remembering fallen Virginia state trooper Junius Walker.

A man shot and killed Walker during a traffic stop yesterday in Dinwiddie County.

Walker was 60 years old.

Locally, several troopers who worked with Walker over the years remembered him as a consummate "gentleman."

One source said Walker was exactly what a Virginia state police officer "stood for."

A long time state trooper currently working our area said Walker once worked with current Virginia state police superintendent Col. Stephen Flaherty while Flaherty was a young trooper in Prince William County.

At last check, no funeral arrangements had been announced.
