Oldest living Virginia State Police officer turns 100th

ROANOKE, VA -

The oldest living Virginia State Police officer celebrated his 100th birthday Saturday.

Retired Captain John Burrow officially joined the Virginia State Police ranks in 1939. In 1961, he was promoted to Captain and was the first commander of the new Salem division, which he lead with distinction until his retirement in 1973.

Friends and family gathered at Brandon Oaks in Roanoke for a birthday celebration and a presentation in recognition of his service.
