NASCAR TEARDOWN: Monday March 11, 2013

Just about a week after Denny Hamlin's comments about the racing at Phoenix--NASCAR and the Gen 6 race car headed to Sin City for a high stakes game of poker. Many wondered if the racing would improve from last weeks single file style of racing. But to the dismay of NASCAR fans this one only got interesting on the restarts. The driver at the end of the day who would turn out to be the guy to beat would be the first year Joe Gibbs driver Matt Kenseth.  He gives coach Gibbs his first win of the year and himself a pretty special 41st birthday present by taking the checkered in Las Vegas.

"...Pretty proud to be driving the car, and I felt a lot of pressure that I put on myself to come in here and perform. I felt like--a great feeling about the season, so we are only three weeks in but man--all three races he had a car uh,. if everything would have went right--that we could have won.  And it feels pretty awesome to have this win..", says Kenseth.

The rest of the top ten--Kasey Kahne, Brad Keselowski, Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards round out the top five. Six through ten---Jimmie Johnson, Dale Earnhardt Jr, Martin Truex Jr, Kevin Harvick and Paul Menard.  For Jimmie and Junior it is their third top ten in three races. Also note the RCR duo of Harvick and Menard crack the top ten.
