A jury awarded the children of Richard Slone a total of $5,010,000, ending a week long civil trial involving the family of the deceased road construction worker versus Tracie Nininger and Jeff Dupree.
Nininger and Dupree served two-and-a-half year prison sentences after convictions on an involuntary manslaughter charge in 2009.
Both drunk behind the wheel, the judge in the criminal trial found Nininger and Dupree caused an accident that killed Slone as he was working on a road near Tanglewood Mall in 2008.
