Roanoke Catholic student named "Community Impact Hero"

ROANOKE, VA -

Being a hero doesn't mean you have to be an adult.  WSLS and the Red Cross honors our "Community Impact Hero," Roanoke Catholic High School Junior, Ann Clare Levy.

Ann Clare is the executive director of "U.S. Kids Care," a non-profit that works on local, national and international projects.

Ann Clare, her older sisters, and their friends came up with the idea for "U.S. Kids Care" back in 2005 after a tsunami hit Southeast Asia.

Since then, "U.S. Kids Care" has worked on about 250 projects

"We'll just look out into our community or even global things that are happening and if there's just an event that kind of touches to us in some way we'll come up with ideas," said Ann Clare.

"The reason I nominated her is because I think the hero part is the encouragement I see her give others in trying to help them grow in themselves," said Ann Clare's mom, Kris Levy.

Ann Clare says she wants to continue giving back when she goes to college and starts working.
