Former Pittsylvania County prosecutor to run for 16th District House seat

PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, VA -
A Chatham lawyer plans to run to succeed retiring 16th District Republican Pittsylvania County Delegate Don Merricks.
Les Adams announced his bid Wednesday evening in an e-mail. The 38-year-old is a partner at the law firm of Adams, Elmore, and Fisk PLC in Chatham.
"Last week when I was asked to pursue to Republican nomination for Delegate, I was humbled by the request," Adams stated. "After intense consideration and prayer, and with the support of my wife and family, I have decided to answer the call to this service."
Adams plans to seek the GOP nomination for the 16th District House of Delegates seat.
In his e-mail, Adams described himself as a Liberty University (Bachelor's) and University of Richmond (Juris Doctorate) graduate. Adams worked as the judicial law clerk for Danville Circuit Court following laws school in 1999, working under Judge Joseph Milam and the late Judge James Ingram.
In 2002, Adams moved to the Pittsylvania County Commonwealth's Attorney's Office, as an assistant prosecutor. He moved into private practice in 2011.
Adams also teaches. From 2001-06 he served as an adjunct instructor at Danville Community College, teaching classes on legal research and writing, domestic relations, and criminal law and procedure. In Fall of 2006, Adams began teaching at Liberty University.
Adams is also a prior president of the Pittsylvania County Bar Association, and has served on the Board of Directors for Faith Christian Academy in Hurt.
