WNCN will write live throughout the ACC Tournament, and sports writer Caulton Tudor will post his analysis after all games involving local teams. Here's our update with No. 8 Boston College playing No. 9 Georgia Tech in Thursday's first-round game.
1:59 p.m.: OK, this one's in the books. Boston College has beaten Georgia Tech 84-64 in the first ACC game. A warm round of applause for BC, which gets to play Miami on Friday in a game marking the two teams the furthest distance from each other.
By the way, BC's Olivier Hanlan scored 41 points and hit 14 of 18 shots, including 8 of 10 from the field.
1:49 p.m.: Georgia Tech led this game 15-0 and 28-14. Boston College is now up 77-54. Talk about an epic collapse.
1:32 p.m.: Georgia Tech has really let this game get away from it. The Jackets look sloppy on the court, barely hustling after passes, and have let Boston College get wide-open shots. Maybe that early big lead gave them too much confidence but Tech is really on the ropes.
Right now it's 56-46 Eagles after a Tech three-pointer bounced in. Tech has the look of a desperate for some luck.
By the way, this is really a physical game. Not saying it looks like MMA out there, but the ACC is no longer a touch-foul league. You can tell the players don't even expect the calls, either. It's just rough, like it or not.
1:20 p.m.: Well, this game has changed. Boston College has roared to the front, 44-35, which really has the Boston College band fired up ... and trust me, I know, since they are right behind press row.
Peppy group of kids, by the way. Wouldn't you be if you came all the way to Greensboro from Boston?
Right now its 46-35 Eagles and Georgia Tech just looks befuddled.
12:48 p.m.: OK, Boston College decided to show up after all. Georgia Tech is still up here in the first game of the ACC Tournament, but it's now 31-28 and looks like the game will be competitive.
12:29 p.m.: Lots of Wolfpack fans already here on Thursday afternoon. You couldn't miss the red walking into the Greensboro Coliseum Thursday morning, with Pack fans eager for Thursday's 2:30 p.m. game between State and Virginia Tech.
The first game matches No. 8 Boston College with No. 9 Georgia Tech, with the winner playing Miami on Friday at noon.
The first game always has a bit of a dead feel to it - the Coliseum is only about a fifth full, at best.
The Yellow Jackets are up early on this one, 24-13. Marcus Georges-Hunt already has eight points and BC is shooting a dreadful 6 of 18 from the field.
