Pulaski County announces 205 new jobs

Governor Bob McDonnell came down to Pulaski County to deliver the good news.  Mexican company, Red Sun Farms, will build a new facility at the new river valley commerce park. Bringing in 205 jobs, and the first high technology greenhouse in the United States. Carlos Visconti with the company shares why Pulaski County beat out all the other areas they were considering.

"The most important was the hospitality for the community and support of the state," says Carlos Visconti.

Chairman of the board of supervisors Joe Sheffty adds several other reasons why Pulaski County is the best place for business.

"We have excellent workforce, a lot of training can be done at this college and  we have revenues as far as tax incentives," says Sheffty.

For those reasons and many more is why the New River Valley beat out another place in Tennessee; a huge win for the region says Sheffty. For a long time the largest private employers were Phoenix Packaging and Volvo Trucks, and if any layoff happened, the region would take a hit.

"If you cannot get a huge company to come in but you have smaller companies that will average to 200 to 300 jobs and diversify, when you have major layoff in one particular area that it will not affect the New River Valley, " says Sheffty

Red Sun Farms brings another first and added bonus for the county. They will be the first facility at the new river valley commerce park.

"The idea is if we can get one big company others will follow," says Sheffty.
