Roanoke city council urges governor to save judgeships

Roanoke city council passed a resolution this afternoon urging Governor McDonnell to save three judgeships.

The Roanoke Valley is losing two circuit court judges, and one juvenile and domestic relations court judge, due to retirements.

The resolution asks the governor to consider allowing state lawmakers to appoint new judges due to the fact that some cases, particularly civil cases such as divorce, or child custody, could take much longer if the valley loses the judges.
