Tuesday morning dozens of people were honored at the WSLS 10 American Red Cross Heroes breakfast at the Sheraton Hotel in Roanoke.
This is the 10th year for the event that recognizes people in our communities for their dedication to helping others.
Even Michelle Pac and her dog Bailey drove in from Connecticut to say thank you to the crew who saved the dog from a burning apartment building.
Pac says she knew the fire department spokeswoman had nominated the group.
"Then, about two or three weeks ago she emailed and said they got it, would you guys be able to come down and right away I was like yes because for so long we just wanted to say thank you, you know, for some people it's just a dog, but she's my baby," explained Pac.
Everyone posed for a group photo after the awards were given out and we look forward to getting nominations for next year's event.
