After getting a taste of the Big Apple one local student is back from an experience of a lifetime.
Salem senior Sam Valentine was selected to sing at Carnegie Hall in New York City, where he performed last month.
Valentine was on stage with more than 250 of the best high school singers in the country and said he learned plenty from his week long trip.
But Valentine believes nothing can compare to when he first stepped foot on the Carnegie Hall stage.
"It was kind of mind blowing," he said. "The big space, legends have sang there and played there before. It was amazing, definitely shocking. I was honored to be there, but I just had fun with it."
Valentine said he learned how to have more of an emotional connection with his music.
He was also quick to point out that performing at Carnegie Hall should look pretty good on a resume.
